Coroner's office identifies man killed in Hwy 162 accident

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The coroner's office has identified a 23-year-old man who died following a single-vehicle crash on Highway 162 in Hollywood Friday morning.

The Charleston County Coroner's Office says Damon Robinson of Hollywood died at the scene from blunt force trauma.

Charleston County sheriff's deputies say Robinson's car was traveling along the 5400 block along Highway 162 in Hollywood around 10:09 a.m. when the car ran off the left shoulder of the road and crashed into a tree, then a utility pole.

The driver was ejected from the car and killed. There were no passengers.

Deputies say the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the accident.

Hwy 162 near Dixie Plantation Road was shut down for about an hour as the Charleston County Sheriff's Office Traffic Squad and the Charleston County Coroner's Office continued their investigation.
