ORANGEBURG, SC (WCSC) - Investigators say a man suspected of strangling and fatally stabbing his girlfriend will also be charged with animal cruelty after a dead dog was found at his home.
The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office arrested Timothy Tirell Brown with the murder of his 33-year-old girlfriend at a home in Branchville Friday morning.
According to the sheriff's office, when deputies arrested Brown they found a dead dog and a starving dog at Brown's home.
"Brown is charged with strangling the victim and stabbing her several times," Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said."These arrests should serve as proof that we will continue to investigate and determine the person's responsible for criminal acts in this county."
Authorities also arrested 24-year-old Brandon Marshell Tyler and charged her with accessory after the fact to a felony. According to investigators, Tyler admitted to placing a knife in the victim's hand to make the stabbing death appear to be a suicide.
"It is my hope that the victim's family can take comfort in knowing the individuals who took their loved one's life will answer their actions," Ravenell said.
