BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A worldwide leader in the cable industry will break ground at the site of their new facility in Berkeley County on Wednesday.
The company, Nexans, is investing $85 million in the new manufacturing plant to be built in Bushy Park Industrial Complex. It's expected to bring 200 jobs to the Lowcountry.
The plant will make underground, high-voltage cables, and operations are expected to begin in 2014.
Officials will celebrate the groundbreaking at 10:30 a.m. at the Berkeley County Council Chambers in Moncks Corner.
Governor Nikki Haley, the president of Nexans, and county leaders are expected to be there.
