Myrtle Beach woman gets 5 years for deadly DUI

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - A 40-year-old Myrtle Beach woman has been sentenced to five years in prison for a deadly 2009 crash which took the life of a Georgetown woman.

Lynne Slay was sentenced Tuesday. She pleaded guilty in March to felony driving under the influence resulting in death.

Authorities say Slay was driving the wrong direction down Highway 17 in Horry County in December 2009 when she slammed head-on into an oncoming car and killed the 57-year-old driver.

Hospice worker Barianne Deas of Georgetown was on her way to work when Slay hit her.

Deas' estate has also sued Slay and several businesses they say served her drinks the night of the crash.
