Investigators with the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office have charged a 32-year-old man for a meth lab that was discovered at an abandoned home in Knightsville.

James Christopher Miles was charged with manufacturing methamphetamines and possession of drugs to manufacture meth.

On April 18, the sheriff's office and the Old Fort Fire Department responded to a home on Embassy Drive just off Orangeburg Road following a small fire at a vacant home that injured Miles, who went to the hospital for severe burns.

The sheriff's office says Miles was charged on May 3 after recovering from his injuries at the Augusta burn center.

According to deputies, Miles has been known to cook meth at the home.

Investigators say they found chemicals that were used to make meth and a pot that had been used to produce meth inside the home.
