South Atlantic League President Eric Krupa has announced that Charleston RiverDogs center fielder Mason Williams has been added to the Southern Division roster for the 53rd Annual All-Star Game that will be hosted by the RiverDogs. Williams was selected as a replacement for Greenville's Keury De La Cruz, who is on the disabled list and is unable to play in the game.
The SAL All-Star Game, sponsored by General Dynamics Land Systems - Force Protection Industries and the Charleston Restaurant Association, is set for Tuesday, June 19, at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park. First pitch is slated for 7:35 pm.
Williams joins fellow RiverDogs Bryan Mitchell, Pedro Guerra, Tyler Austin, Gary Sanchez and Francisco Arcia at the mid-season classic. Williams will serve as a utility outfielder.
Williams is the RiverDogs' leadoff hitter and possesses one of the most consistent bats on the team. This is the second straight season that he has made his league's All-Star team as last year, while in Staten Island, Williams was named an All-Star during a season in which he led the league in hits and tied for the lead in stolen bases.
