CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - The University of South Carolina is opening a welcome center in Charleston's busy King Street shopping district.
The university has bought out the remaining three years of a lease for space that used to house a jewelry store.
USC vice president of communications Luanne Lawrence says the center will provide a link with students thinking about attending the university. It will also welcome current students, alumni and friends of the university. The center will sell clothing with the USC logo.
The school hopes to have the welcome center open by August.
