WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston Fire Department will hold a memorial next week for the nine firefighters who perished in the Sofa Super Store fire five years ago.
Spokesman Mark Ruppel said the public memorial will be held at 1807 Savannah Highway on Monday, June 18, the five-year anniversary of the tragic event.
A brief ceremony will start at 7 p.m. with a procession, a bagpiper, and the reading of the nine names. A ringing of a bell will follow, Ruppel added.
Ruppel said a tent, water, lights, and fans will be available for attendants, as will comfort facilities.
