CHARLESTON (WCSC) - A press conference will be held this afternoon to discuss two recent murders in the city of Charleston.

Chief Greg Mullen with the Charleston Police Department will hold a press conference at 3 p.m. on Tuesday to talk about the shooting deaths of Maliek Byers and Marley Lion.

Byers, 23, was the victim of an early Thursday morning shooting near the intersection of Hanover and Reid streets in downtown around 3 a.m. Police say they found the victim collapsed on an apartment stairwell suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

No suspects have been identified.

Lion, a 17-year-old recent graduate of Academic Magnet, was found in the parking lot of Famous Joes on Savannah Hwy around 4 a.m. Saturday morning. Police say when they arrived on the scene, Lion, who was shot five times, said two unknown black males approached his car and began to fire at him.

He was transported to MUSC, where he later died.
