Sewage spill causes stink in downtown

DOWNTOWN (WCSC) - There was a foul stench in the air Tuesday afternoon in downtown Charleston.

A dump truck spilled sewage from Calhoun Street to Bee Street Tuesday afternoon. The spill, which occurred around 2:30 p.m., caused a number of traffic issues as officials blocked off Lockwood Blvd. to clean up the mess

Charleston Water System personnel were on scene cleaning the sewage from the streets.

Besides backing up traffic, the smell from the sewage also caused problems for people in the area.
