Zach Edmonson shot a first round 65 to hold a 1 shot lead after the first day of the Rice Planters at Snee Farm Country Club on Wednesday. 

The East Carolina rising senior is just ahead of Clemson's Thomas Bradshaw and Thomas Bass of Wilmington who each shot 66 in the first round of the 40th anniversary of the famed local tournament. 

2011 Rice Planters Champion and Pinewood Prep alum Austin Cody is 4 shots back after a first round 69 which ties him with local Bert Atkinson, a 2-time former Rice Planters winner.
