Charleston Animal Society offering free adoptions

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston Animal Society is again asking for your help in easing the overcrowding at their shelter.

Hundreds of animals show up at the Remount Road shelter each month and spokesperson Kay Hyman says there's no more room.

Volunteers say they have more than 600 animals at the shelter. If you want to make a dog or a cat a part of your family, adoption fees have been waived through the weekend.

Additionally, the shelter is extending its hours until 8 p.m. during the week and until 5 p.m. over the weekend.

If you adopt a cat over the age of three, they'll come with a lifetime supply of food. You can reach the Charleston Animal Society at (843) 747-4849.
