BEAUFORT COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Deputies have arrested two suspects in connection to a shooting at a club that killed two people and injured two others in Beaufort County early Thursday morning.

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office has charged 27-year-old Joseph David Bowers with one count of murder. Lucas Miles Morgan, 25, is also charged with one count of attempted murder. Investigators say additional charges are pending.

Just before 1:30 a.m. Thursday morning, deputies responded to multiple reports of shots fired in the area of the Midnight Soul Patrol club on 56 Toomer Rd.

As deputies arrived, they made contact with a vehicle fleeing the area. According to investigators, a 33-year old shooting victim, Dante Kendell Bailey, was located inside the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

During the course of the ensuing investigation, witnesses reported that an altercation had broken out at the club just before the shooting. An incident report states that a series of shots were fired among the feuding parties, leaving a total of four gunshot victims.

In addition to Bailey, 26-year old Michael Douglas Morgan, and two other men sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Due to the severity of their injuries, Morgan and one of the other victims were flown to MUSC in Charleston for further medical attention. Authorities say Morgan later died after succumbing to his injuries several hours later.

The sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information regarding this incident to contact either Investigator Cpl. A. Zsamar at 843-255-3408 or the Beaufort County Dispatch Center at 843-524-2777.
