Hwy 174 now open after downed power lines forces closure

EDISTO, S.C. (WCSC) - Highway 174 has been reopened to all traffic after power lines fell across the highway.

The incident occurred around 7:45 a.m. Saturday morning in the 2900 block of Hwy 174 approximately two miles north of McKinley Washington Bridge. SCE&G power crews were brought in to safely remove the power lines.

The road was reopened around 9 a.m.

It is not known at this time what caused the lines to fall across the road. There was no accident reported in the area, according to deputies.
