KIAWAH ISLAND (WCSC) - A few weeks ago Kiawah Island was named "America's Happiest Seaside Town" by Coastal Living magazine, and now the island is receiving even more national acclaim.

USA Today ran a big feature in Friday's newspaper detailing the "paradise" that is Kiawah Island. Whether it's the residents who showcase southern hospitality, or the year-round beauty of the island, the paper says "memories in the making are all around Kiawah."

Included among the island's list of amenities is the acclaimed Kiawah Island Golf Resort. All eyes will be on the resort's renowned Ocean Course this August as it hosts the 94th PGA Championship. The course boasts views of the ocean from every hole.

Another spot that has drawn national attention is Kiawah's Beachwalker Park. The beach was ranked among the top 10 beaches in the United States by Stephen "Dr. Beach" Leatherman. Dr. Beach uses a set of 50 rating criteria to determine the best beaches, and the 10-mile long Beachwalker Park ranked number seven.

Tennis, biking, kayaking, dolphin-watching and shopping are all reasons why the USA Today recommends the public take a visit to this 10,000-acre South Carolina gem.
