Baltimore Orioles Catcher Matt Wieters was selected as an alternate on the American League All-Star team on Sunday. The 2nd straight year the former Stratford High star has been selected to play in the midsummer classic.
Wieters becomes the first Oriole to be selected for the All-Star game in back to back seasons since Miguel Tejada back in 2005 and 2006. He's batting .249 for the season with 11 Homers and 38 RBI. His fielding percentage is down a bit this season, but he's still throwing out 36% of attempted base stealers.
This year's All-Star game will be in Kansas City on July 10th.
