CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Power has been restored to over 4,000 Tri-County homes after strong winds, dangerous lightning and heavy rain pelted the Lowcountry Sunday night.
An official with Berkeley County Cooperative said at the peak of last night's storm, 4,800 homes were without power.
Residents across the area reported fallen trees and damage caused by the storm, which began moving east toward the Lowcountry Sunday afternoon.
As of early Monday morning, officials say only a couple hundred homes are still without electricity. Crews are currently working to restore power to those homes.
According to SCE&G's website, over 1,000 Beaufort County homes are still without power.
