CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Charleston police have arrested a man they say lit a downtown apartment on fire in June.

Rhashalm Antonio Crowell, 29, was arrested Friday and is charged with arson in the 3rd degree. Officers say Crowell is responsible for a structure fire at 37-A America Street on June 20.

According to a report, an investigation by the Charleston Fire Department and the Charleston Police Department determined that Crowell previously threatened to harm a woman who was living in the apartment.

When police arrived at the scene of the fire around 1:30 a.m. on June 20, the stairway and the front door of the apartment were on fire. The officers used fire extinguishers to put out the flames. No one was injured.

No information indicates that this incident is related to other fires in the downtown area.

The investigation is ongoing.
