College of Charleston rising junior Daniel Aldrich could not defend his title in the 2012 TD Ameritrade Home Run Derby, failing to hit a home run in the first round of the competition in TD Ameritrade Park, home of the College World Series.

Aldrich entered the event as the defending title-holder after hitting 14 home runs in last year's Derby, including four in the final round to defeat Georgia Southern's Victor Roache.

Fresno State's Aaron Judge went on to win this year's Home Run Derby with eight home runs in the final round, knocking off Virginia Tech's Tyler Horan and LSU's Mason Katz.

A native of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Aldrich finished the 2012 season with 11 home runs and a team-best 46 RBI, batting .287 and slugging .574. He was named to the Gainesville All-Regional team after hitting .417 with two doubles and a home run in three NCAA games.

The TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby will be aired on CBS on Saturday, July 7, at 2 p.m. ET.
