A 22-year-old man is now facing charges after South Carolina Highway Patrol authorities say he rear-ended a Charleston County sheriff's deputy Wednesday, creating a traffic jam for beach-goers on the Fourth of July.

State troopers have charged Bryan Davis with following too closely on Folly Road. Troopers say he ran into the back of the patrol car on the, setting off a chain reaction involving five cars.

The accident happened on Folly Road near Mariners Bay Condos.

Thirteen people total were involved in the accident. Four people went to the hospital, including the deputy who had minor injuries.
