Driver dies of injuries sustained from moped accident

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Officials with the South Carolina Highway Patrol say the driver of a moped, who was involved in an accident with a Jeep, died from his injuries on Thursday.

Georgetown County Coroner Kenny Johnson says 59-year-old James E. Moultrie died at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center on Thursday from the multiple traumatic injuries.

Highway patrol says a Jeep was traveling south on US 17 near Gene Ward's Country Store when a moped pulled out of a driveway Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators say the moped failed to yield the right of way. The crash is under investigation.
