CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

The Charleston Police Department arrested a man for criminal domestic violence and kidnapping early Saturday morning on James Island.

According to police, 27-year-old Elliott Chandler and his girlfriend got in to a fight at around 1 a.m.

Authorities say after a confrontation between Chandler and his girlfriend, Chandler left with the area with the couple's child. Police say the child was dropped off at a neighbor's house shortly after.

Police say Chandler arrived back at the home where he was taken into custody. Chandler is charged with kidnapping, criminal domestic violence with a high and aggravated nature and unlawful neglect of a child.

The suspect went before a judge Sunday morning where his bond was set at $25,000.
