BEAUFORT COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting in St. Helena that left one teenager suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Deputies responded to a reported gunshot victim on Seaside Road just before 10 p.m. on Saturday. When deputies arrived they made contact with two 18-year-old males, one of whom was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Both told deputies that they had been walking on Seaside Road near Ballpark Road when they noticed a small, silver vehicle coming up behind them.
According to the victims, as the vehicle came to a stop, a male suspect got out and opened fire. The victims then ran towards Blazing Star Lane and hid in some bushes until the suspects left the area.
Upon realizing that his friend had been shot, the second victim contacted law enforcement.
The sheriff's office says the injured victim was transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital and later flown to MUSC where he currently remains in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators say the motive for the shooting has not been determined and no suspects have been identified.
The sheriff's office is asking anyone with information regarding this incident to contact either Investigator Sgt. J. Kelleher at 843-255-3418 or the Beaufort County Dispatch Center at 843-524-2777.
