FOLLY BEACH, SC (WCSC) - The Folly Beach Public Safety Department has charged a 28-year-old woman with breaking into the post office on East Indian Avenue.
According to court records, Sarah Rion is charged with 2nd-degree burglary after she broke into 16 mailboxes at the Folly Beach Post Office on July 8.
Officials say a total of 16 boxes were pried open in random order by what appeared to be a screwdriver. Some of the boxes that were open still had mail inside them, said officials.
Police say they identified Rion as the suspect after she was spotted on surveillance cameras during the break in at the Folly Beach Post Office, as well as reports of vandalism at the Pawleys Island Post Office.
According to an incident report, Rion went to the Folly Beach Public Safety Department on July 9 to report a lost or stolen driver's license. She was then arrested by police.
Officers say Rion confessed to breaking into both Post Offices.
She was taken to the Charleston County Detention Center and granted a $25,000 bond.
