JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Deputies arrested a 23-year-old man after finding over 16 grams of cocaine inside a  vehicle during a traffic stop on Johns Island Thursday afternoon, a report states.

A Charleston County Sheriff's Office deputy said he was patrolling Main Road near River Road around 2 p.m. when he saw a vehicle cross double yellow lines.  After initiating a traffic stop, the report states the driver, 30-year-old Kemone Ford, was found to be drinking a beer while driving.

After the deputy cited him for having an open container in a vehicle, he asked if he could search the car, the report states.  Ford agreed, and the deputy said he ordered two people in the back seat of the vehicle to get out so he could search the car.

While one of the occupants, 23-year-old Hakeem Collins, was getting out of the vehicle, the deputy said he saw a plastic bag fall from his pants.

The bag was determined to contain 16.8 grams of a rock-like substance which tested positive for cocaine, the report states.

Collins was charged with trafficking cocaine base and taken to the Charleston County Detention Center.
