ADAMS RUN, SC (WCSC) -

A man was killed Saturday night after his car crashed into a utility pole in Adams Run in Charleston County.

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office says it happened on Parkers Ferry and Weeks Roads at around 9:05 p.m. The victim was driving a 1996 Mercedes that was traveling on Parkers Ferry road when he left the highway and struck a utility pole.

The Charleston County Coroner's Office says the driver 39-year-old John Tuttle of Charleston died at the scene of the accident.

Deputies say a six year old child was in the car, but was unharmed. Both the driver and the child were wearing seatbelts.

Investigators say speed and alcohol appeared to be contributing factors in the accident.
