MT. PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - An elderly couple was taken to MUSC early Sunday morning after a fire ripped through their home.
Mt. Pleasant Police Department officials say the blaze started early Sunday morning at 989 Cottingham Drive.
When crew arrived at the scene, they saw flames and smoke coming from the home.
A man was already outside the home, but firefighters had to rescue the woman still inside the house.
The couple was taken to MUSC where there condition is unknown at this time. The woman suffered from heat and smoke inhalation, firefighters said.
On Sunday afternoon, firefighters said the couple was still being treated at MUSC. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
