Cross man wins $100k from scratch-off lottery ticket

BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A young man from Cross won $100,000 from a $5 scratch-off lottery ticket he purchased in Moncks Corner.

The man said he bought the ticket "on the spur of the moment" at the Corner Gas & Tackle on Highway 52 in Moncks Corner.

He was calm at first before the nerves kicked in, "I slept with the ticket, showered with it, and even took it with me to work," he said. "I didn't let it out of my sight."

He was relieved when he finally had a day off from work to drive to Columbia to collect his prize. His mother came with him.

"This makes you want to play," she said staring at the check.

The young man left with a down payment on his first home.

As of this release, four top prizes of $100,000 remain in the $5 Scorchin' Hot 5's game. The odds of winning $100,000 are 1 in 480,000.

For selling the claimed ticket, Corner Gas & Tackle in Moncks Corner received a commission of $1,000.
