DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say 81 people were cited and five arrested on a popular river float this past weekend.
Dorchester County Sheriff's Office deputies say people were cited for everything from being drunk in public to underage drinking, to trespassing and littering.
A number of agencies assisted Dorchester County deputies, including: Colleton County Sheriff's Office, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, the 14th Judicial Circuit Alcohol Enforcement Team, and the Cottageville Police Department.
Crews combed the Edisto River between Givhans State Park and Jellico's Landing between Colleton and Dorchester Counties.
Officials say large crowds frequent the Edisto River to float and law enforcement usually beefs up security along the river on weekends and holidays for safety reasons.
