CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

The Charleston Police Department is looking for a witness and vehicle that was spotted on surveillance tape in connection to the theft of nearly $50k worth of bags and belts at a Gucci shop in downtown.

Investigators are searching for a white male on a bicycle who police say may be a witness to the early Monday morning burglary. Police have also released pictures from a city camera of a vehicle that was seen parked in front of the business on 132 Market Street at the time of the incident.

If you have any information you are asked to call police at 577-7434 or Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.

Police say two suspects, in all black wearing gloves and masks, broke into the store, stole merchandise and may also be responsible for a break-in at the Fudgery that same morning.

Around 5:48 a.m., police responded to the Gucci store in reference to a front glass break alarm. When an officer arrived, he saw that the side display window had been shattered.

According to police, two belts were on the outside step of the store along with one just inside the door "presumably dropped by the suspects." Surveillance video shows that the suspects took a minute and 30 seconds to burglarize the store. An incident report states that there appeared to be two male suspects wearing all black with black beanies and gloves.

A witness also told officers that a suspicious maroon van was parked outside the store on Market Street for an extended period of time. The witness said she did not see anyone and that the van had tinted windows.

She also noticed that the engine was on with the lights turned off. Video shows that the vehicle was parked outside the store's door for 10 minutes.

A Charleston Police Department incident report states that approximately $48,170 of merchandise was stolen from the store.

Officials with the Charleston Police Department say the incident may be related to another burglary that happened at the Fudgery.

Around 6:45 a.m., police responded to a breaking and entering at the Fudgery on 90 N. Market St.

The manager told investigators that he arrived at the store at 6:30 a.m. and flagged down an officer once he saw traces of vandalism to the right glass door of the business.

The victim said that someone stole two cash registers that contained $340. If you have any information you are asked to call police or Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
