Charleston Southern Women's Basketball Head Coach Fred Applin is pleased to announce the addition of three more student-athletes to the 2012-2013 Buccaneers squad as Carra Coy, Dijanelle Fowler and Zhaquondalee Greer have all signed to play at CSU this season.

Carra Coy comes to Charleston Southern by way of Liberty University, where the 6-6 athlete saw action in 25 games at forward for the Flames in her freshman season. Coy finished fourth on the team in blocks during the 2009-2010 season as Liberty won the Big South Championship, advancing to the NCAA Tournament.

"Carra's size will bring a new element to our post game. Offensively, she will be a big target for us on the block," commented Coach Applin. "Her ability to alter shots will be a key component of our interior defense. We are thrilled to have her on board."

In high school, Coy graduated from Northwood Academy in Charleston, S.C., where she played under Coach Anthony Houston. During her time at Northwood, the team was Region Champion in both her junior and senior seasons, with Coy earning All-State honors as a senior. She was also nominated for the SCISA Player of the Year during her senior season after averaging 14 points and 12 rebounds per game.

In the classroom, Coy was named on the Big South Presidential Honor Roll. She is the daughter of Pam and Bruce Coy.

Dijanelle (DJ) Fowler comes to Charleston Southern by way of St. Petersburg College, where she played for the past two seasons under Coach Denisha Davidson. Fowler lined up at point guard for 27 games in the 2011-2012 season for the Titans, taking on most of the ball-handling duties on the court.

"DJ is an experienced point guard and her high basketball IQ will be a valuable asset for us. She is a complete competitor with a tireless work ethic, both on the court and in the classroom," said Applin. "We are excited about the positive impact she will have on our program."　 　　

Prior to SPC, Fowler was a McDonald's All-American nominees after a sterling career at Parkway Academy under Coach Adam Hopkins where she was a two-time All-County First Team selection, guiding her team to back-to-back state championships and three state championship appearances. She is the daughter of Diane Fowler and Joseph Turpin.

Zhaquondalee Greer joins the Buccaneers in the 2012-2013 season by way of Greensboro, N.C. and Ben L. Smith High School, where she lined up at guard under Coach Will Perry. During her time with the Golden Eagles, Greer was named the Team MVP for both her junior and senior seasons and finished her time with career averages of 15 points, four rebounds and five assists per game.

"We are excited to have Zhaquondalee' as part of the Buccaneer family," said Applin. "Her combined offensive skill set and defensive tenacity make her the total package.　She is a dynamic, all-round player who will be able to help us in many ways.　"

Off the court and in the classroom, Greer was a member of the A/B Honor Roll and accomplished an Award for service learning after accumulating more than 75 hours of community service. She is the daughter of Joy and Miguel Greer.

Coy, Fowler and Greer join early signees Alyssa Mann and Monique Maximilien as the team begins the first season in the Applin coaching era at CSU.
