ST. LOUIS, Mo. (WCSC) - Ft. Dorchester alum Robert Quinn was arrested earlier this month in St. Louis on drunk driving charges, according to KSDK-TV in St. Louis, Mo.
The Lowcountry native, who is getting ready for his second season playing defensive end for the St. Louis Rams, was involved in accident just before 6 a.m. on July 10th according to a police report. He was charged with DUI, failure to exercise a high degree of care and having no insurance. Quinn posted bond and was released from jail that night. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 11th.
For Quinn, it is more off the field trouble after he was ruled ineligible for his junior season at the University of North Carolina for allegedly lying to investigators about receiving improper benefits.
Quinn was still selected with the 14th overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft by the Rams, who signed him to a 4-year, $9.4 million contract.
In his rookie season, Quinn had five sacks and 23 tackles.
The team released a statement saying "The Rams and the NFL office are aware of the situation regarding Robert Quinn. We take such matters very seriously, and we will act accordingly once the legal process plays out."
