Lt. Gov. Glenn McConnell honored in Charleston

South Carolina Lt. Gov. Glenn McConnell was honored at a reception in Charleston.

It was part of the inaugural Legislative Appreciation Reception being held Tuesday by the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce.

McConnell was honored for all he has done for the Charleston area during the past 30 years.

He became one of the state's most powerful lawmakers in the state Senate before assuming the mostly ceremonial post of lieutenant governor earlier this year.

McConnell became lieutenant governor after then-Lt. Gov. Ken Ard resigned last March. Ard was sentenced to five years of probation and 300 hours of public service after pleading guilty to violating state ethics laws
