Officials investigate 'suspicious' fire at Johns Island house

JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Officials say they are investigating a suspicious fire which damaged an abandoned Johns Island home early Tuesday.

Firefighters with the St. John's Fire District, City of Charleston, and James Island Public Service District responded to 1435 River Road just before 1 a.m. to find the abandoned home burning.

It didn't take long for firefighters to bring the blaze under control.  No injuries were reported.

Captain James Ghi with the St. John's Fire District said the Charleston County Sheriff's Office is assisting in the investigation.
