CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston Police have arrested a North Charleston man they say played a role in the attempted armed robbery of a Subway restaurant.
Derrick Andreas Sergenton, 24, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with attempted armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime in connection to an incident on June 28, according to a report.
Police previously arrested Trainy Michelle Fishburne, 34, on July 16 for her involvement in the armed robbery of the Subway at 13 Magnolia Road.
Both suspects are being held in the Al Cannon Detention Center.
Officials say a man entered the restaurant around 7:45 p.m. on June 28 and asked an employee a number of questions, including if the employee was working alone. When the man left, the employee began to receive phone calls which police say were from Fishburne.
Shortly after, officers say another man entered the store with a handgun and tried to take money from the register. He fled after being unable to get cash out of the drawer.
The investigation is ongoing.
