Cops: Woman arrested after making up child abuse allegations

BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

Investigators say they have arrested a 20-year-old woman accused of writing a note which falsely implicated another woman for child abuse.

The Moncks Corner Police Department charged Stella Patricia Gaillard of Holly Hill with false police report and malicious damage to property.

On the afternoon of July 19, police responded to the Walmart on 511 N. US Hwy 52 in reference to a suspicious message left in the woman's restroom. Police say a female Department of Social Services agent had used the women's restroom and discovered a note written in blue ink on the back of a stall door.

The note stated that the writer was being abused by his mother and that he was living in constant fear. Authorities say the message provided a phone number belonging to the supposed victim.

Police then called the number and contacted a 24-year-old woman, who authorities say believed the call to be a hoax. The woman said she thought that Gaillard could have written the note.

According to authorities, when police contacted Gaillard and told her about their investigation, Gaillard admitted to writing the note and surrendered to police.
