CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - As the summer break for Lowcountry students winds down, a New York City basketball legend is giving kids a treat to excite them about going back to school.
The street ball legend, Lawrence Gadsden, better known as "Larry Legend," is holding a back to school rally which starts at 11 a.m. Friday at the Arthur Christopher Gym, across the street from Burke High School.
Special guest speakers will lead off the celebration and kids will be treated to a basketball game at 3 p.m. between Charleston Police Department officers and the Arthur Christopher All-Stars.
Kids who attend the rally will also receive free school supplies.
Larry Legend has been holding this rally for 15 years in New York and South Carolina.
