Bond denied for elderly murder suspect

A 77-year-old murder suspect will remain behind bars for the time being, after he was denied bond in Berkeley County.

Lester Chung is charged with murder after Goose Creek police say he stabbed his wife to death in front of their daughter on Friday night.

Sixty-one-year-old Xiuying Wang was found dead inside the home along Huntsman Drive.

Tonight in bond court, a family spokeswoman representing the victim's family read aloud a prepared statement.

"The cost of Mr. Lester Chung's actions have left a deep scar within the family.  A life has been lost.  It is more painful to know that it is someone who he, Mr. Chung, used to love," she said.

The presiding judge denied bail.
