Cyclist taken to MUSC after swerving into passing trailer

MOUNT PLEASANT (WCSC) - Witnesses say a man appeared to be intoxicated when he crashed his bicycle into a passing trailer last night near the Cove Inlet Villas subdivision.

Mount Pleasant police say a cyclist was riding in a bike lane along Center Street around 8:10 p.m. Monday evening when a vehicle towing a trailer approached him from behind.

Both were traveling in the same direction.

The driver of the vehicle said the cyclist was swerving into the lane and having trouble staying in the bike path.

Police say as the driver of the vehicle attempted to pass the bike, the cyclist swerved into him, crashing into his trailer.

The cyclist was taken to MUSC were a spokesperson says he is in good condition after staying overnight.

Both the vehicle and the trailer were not damaged.
