Marley Lion's pastor praising police in murder investigation

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Marley Lion's pastor is praising the work of Charleston police in investigating the 17-year-old's murder.

Rev. John Paul Brown gave the eulogy at Lion's funeral and says he's known Lion and his family more than eight years.

Brown says it was tough learning about Lion's murder back in June. He describes Lion as a young man who had a promising future with plans to attend college in the fall.

He says the arrests of four people in connection to the murder is a result of the hard work of police and the community coming together to catch a suspected killer.

"I'm grateful to the police department and all of the support they brought in, and the business owners, and people who were just outraged that that took place," Brown said.

He says Lion's murder has brought the community together by getting people to take action to find the suspects.

The pastor says the latest arrests are a weight lifted from Lion's family, but not complete closure.
