Man charged with threatening to kill assistant solicitor

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Detectives say a suspect has admitted to sending a letter to an assistant solicitor threatening to kill her and her family.

Kashif Quanta Washington, 27, has been charged with threatening the life of a public official.

According to a report, Amy Harrell, Assistant Solicitor with the 9th Circuit Solicitors Office, received a letter in the mail from Washington on July 30.

In the letter, Washington states, "I don't like the Fact of you Being my Solicitor. So When I do get out of Prison I am going to Kill you, your Kid's and If you have a husband as well [sic]."

He goes on to write, "You also Work to the Court House on the 4th Floor. So that Not hard at all to Find you. All I got to do is wait until you get Off from Work [sic]."

Investigators say on July 31 Washington admitted to detectives he wrote the letter.

Officials say Washington wrote the letter to express his anger with the assistant solicitor for the handling of an unrelated court case.

Washington was in bond court this afternoon. His bond was set at $500,000.
