CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

A tropical storm has formed off the coast of Barbados in the Atlantic Ocean.

The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Ernesto is moving toward the west at about 20 mph. The center of the storm should be near the Windward Islands on Friday.

NHC is reporting that maximum winds are near 35 mph and little change is likely through Friday.

No threat is being reported at this time, and it looks like Ernesto is heading towards the Caribbean Sea, say officials.
