Cops: Man charged after stabbing teen in neck

WALTERBORO, SC (WCSC) - A 46-year-old man is behind bars after police say he stabbed a teen in the neck late Saturday in Walterboro.

Walterboro Public Safety officers said Stevie Jamier Lingard, of Ruffin, stabbed an 18-year-old man in the neck in the area of Beach Road and Sniders Highway just before midnight Saturday.

A report states officers were responding to the area after receiving reports of an altercation between a man and a woman when dispatch officials told them a stabbing victim was en route to Colleton Medical Center.

Once they arrived at the hospital, the victim told them Lingard was responsible for the stabbing. The victim was airlifted to MUSC to be treated for his injuries. We are working to confirm his current condition.

The report states officers located Lingard at a nearby Druid Hills apartment at 100 Sniders Highway.

Lingard is charged with attempted murder. He is being held in the Colleton County Detention Center.
