Daniel Aldrich Signs Contract With New York Yankees

Wando alum and College of Charleston OF Daniel Aldrich has signed a deal with the New York Yankees a CofC official confirmed Monday night.  

Aldrich made a big impact with the Cougars over the past 2 seasons. He was named the National Freshman of the Year by Collegiate Baseball and a 1st team All-American by 4 different lists including Louisville Slugger. 

He would also go on to win the Collegiate Home Run Derby in Omaha, NE in 2011. 

Aldrich's numbers dropped off in 2012, but he still managed to hit .287 with 11 homers and 46 RBI. 

In his time with the Warriors, Aldrich was a two time All-State selection and was named 2nd team All-American by Baseball America. 

The Yankees confirmed the deal on Tuesday afternoon and said Aldrich would report to Spring Training next season.
