
A firefighter works to extinguish roof flames.A home under renovation in Awendaw is badly damaged after a fire early Tuesday morning.
It started just around 1 a.m. on Beehive Rd., near the intersection of Highway 17.
Chief Arthur Sattler, with the Awendaw Fire Department, says when crews arrived, flames were shooting through the roof of the home.
Power was connected to the house, but no one was home at the time.
About 20 firefighters were on scene to fight the blaze, which they had under control within 20 minutes.
No one was hurt. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
