November ballot to include $179M referendum for new DD2 schools

DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - DORCHESTER COUNTY (WCSC) - Voters in the DD2 school district will decide in November if they're willing to pay more in taxes to support a $179 million building plan in the district.

Board members approved the wording of the question for the November ballot at a meeting on Monday.

The $179 million referendum will pay for three new elementary school and a new middle school. The money will also go towards renovations at some schools and an option for a new public pool.

If passed, property owners with a $100,000 home will see a tax increase of around $84 a year.

Plans and locations for the new schools have not yet been released.
