DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The driver of a tractor trailer was flown to MUSC on Wednesday morning after an early-morning wreck in the westbound lanes delayed traffic for hours.
The crash happened around 3:45 a.m. near mile marker 170.
South Carolina Highway Patrol reopened one lane of the road just before 8 a.m.
The driver of the semi was carrying a roll of steel when it ran off the interstate and hit several trees.
Some of the trees landed in the road, but the South Carolina Department of Transportation has cleared the debris.
The driver of the tractor trailor is a 56-year-old man from Sumter, South Carolina.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
