MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - For the past seven years the corn maze at the Boone Hall Plantation has been the centerpiece of the Pumpkin Patch, and is fast becoming a fall family tradition.
This year, the Live 5 News logo will be the centerpiece of the 8-acre corn maze.
"It's going to be a great Pumpkin Patch and festival this holiday season," says Jadie Rayfield of Boone Hall Plantation.
The blueprint has already been drawn up by Maize Inc., which already has 2,000 mazes under their belt, and the corn was planted in mid-July by the folks at the plantation. Maize Inc. also did last year's Boeing 787 Dreamliner maze and the Carolina's corn maze the year before.
This year's Live 5 corn maze is expected to be just as detailed.
"We are super excited," says Rayfield. "It's the beginning of the fall season out here, to start cutting the corn maze and Dustin and his staff does an amazing job."
Flags are strategically placed in the field to make a path, and the new design will be spray-painted before being cut just in time for the fall festivities.
"We turn it into a maze in their field and come out once the corn is about eight inches to a foot tall," says Dustin Rigby of The Maize Inc. "Then we cut the logo into their field."
The Live 5 corn maze will open on Monday, October 1 and will run until October 31.
