Felon found trespassing in downtown arrested on weapon charges

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

The Charleston Police Department says a convicted felon found trespassing in downtown was arrested after officers say they found a stolen handgun in his possession.

Investigators charged 19-year-old Norman Pringle with possession of a stolen handgun, unlawful carrying of a handgun, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and trespassing.

A police report states that an officer was on patrol in the area of Harris Street when he saw Pringle duck between two homes. The officer said he knew that Pringle was on trespass notice.

According to police, Pringle tried to leave the area but was caught by a police officer. Authorities say Pringle had a stolen handgun that was reported stolen in Mount Pleasant.

Pringle was locked up at the Al Cannon Detention Center.

Police are continuing the investigation.
