CLOVER, S.C. (AP) - A volunteer firefighter in York County has been charged with impersonating a police officer in a traffic stop.
Sheriff's deputies say an officer found 29-year-old David Charles Williams of Clover beside a large white truck with flashing red and white lights. A small car was in front of the truck.
Williams is with the Bethel Volunteer Fire Department in Clover.
A sheriff's report says a 17-year-old girl told the deputy she thought the man in the truck was a police officer. She said the man shouted profanities at her and questioned her driving.
Williams said the car had passed his truck across a double yellow line and sped away. Williams says he caught up and turned on the truck lights.
It was not clear if Williams has a lawyer.
